Improving animal welfare standards is important to Nando’s and our UK and Ireland business already uses cage-free eggs. As part of this strategy, we are working towards a global strategy to source cage-free eggs across our global business. Currently, cage-free eggs are not available in all markets in which Nando’s operates but we are committed to achieve the goal of 100% cage-free eggs used as both whole and as an ingredient within these markets by 2030. We believe that by both joining the global drive to source cage-free eggs and working closely with our suppliers we will be able to move to 100% cage-free eggs (including whole eggs and eggs as an ingredient) in New Zealand and Australia by 2023; North America and South Africa by 2025; and Malaysia and Singapore by 2027.
Whether you’ve gone meat-free, flexitarian or you’re just a bit curious, there’s plenty of meat-free options to choose from. From plant-based products (ones that contain no ingredients derived from animals), to vegetarian items (that are simply meat-free), you can have a look at all our items on our menu. To make things easier, you can even filter by dietary requirement and just see what’s suitable for you. If you’re looking for something plant-based, we’d recommend trying The Great Imitator which tastes just like our famous PERi-PERi chicken, but it’s made completely from pea-protein! We’ve also got our crunchy and colourful Rainbow Bowl which is completely plant-based and full of bright, bold flavours so give it a try. The Great Imitator is suitable for anyone following a plant-based diet, however, we just need to mention that although our kitchens aim to keep all plant-based products away from ingredients derived from animal origin, we cannot guarantee this. The great imitator is a plant-based recipe, however, our bastes contain shellac. We do our very best to make sure all our meat-free items are kept separate from our meat ones, including different areas of the grills and separate bottles of baste for each. We can’t however promise that they won’t come into contact at all. If you have an allergy, please let us know so that we can take extra steps just to make sure you’re kept safe.
